So who is Nadia Albano? Well she is a stylist, columnist, educator, artist and most importantly a really awesome individual. We have been friends with Nadia for a while now and wanted to create a film for her that really captured her one of a kind personality. Nadia is so fun to be around and she has so much going on all the time. We felt a great way to express that energy would be through a technique called Stop Motion.

Stop Motion is a animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. The process takes a lot of time and requires a lot of attention to detail but the creative freedom you get is limitless.

Brainstorm Your Visual Elements

The artistic freedom to experiment with unique visual elements is the best part about any stop motion video. Having a strong vision for these creative elements and taking the time to make them stand out is the heart of the video. Break out the scissors and chalk and create something totally new.

Create Your storyboard

For something like this it is so important to have a clear plan. Stop motion is a step by step process, so carefully planning your day of shooting is key. Create your storyboards and draft an organized shot list.

Minimize Edits

Since this is such a complicated technique you really have to have a clear vision of where you are going and how you are going to get there. It is a step by step process and you have to focus on the big picture. Shoot to capture each action in its proper place.
